More About our post AGM Learning...
Managing Conflict as a Leader:
Conflict is a routine part of dental hygiene practice—arising from differences in clinical judgement, workload pressures, team dynamics, and professional autonomy. This session frames conflict management as an essential leadership skill for dental hygienists and explores why avoiding difficult conversations often makes problems worse rather than better. Drawing on research and tapping into participants' own real-world experiences, participants will learn to recognize what a conflict is really about, avoid the buildup of “conflict debt,” manage emotions productively, and decide when to act versus wait. The session offers practical tools for handling everyday workplace conflict in ways that protect professional values, strengthen team relationships, and support high-quality patient care.
About Professor Neville:
Lukas Neville is an Associate Professor of organizational behaviour at the Asper School of Business, where he researches and teaches in the areas of conflict management, trust, and negotiation. Prior to joining Asper, Lukas completed his Ph.D. at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. Lukas teaches in the B.Comm, MBA, and Executive Education programs, and has delivered training and facilitated workshops for audiences in a range of industries, including financial services, health care, logistics, and consumer retail. Lukas' research has been published in a range of top management and organizational psychology journals, and his teaching has been recognized with awards including the Reg Litz MBA Luminary Teaching Award and the CSA Golden Shovel.
